Beginning in 1967, Mr. Ben George began Tivoli to use up an excess supply of miniature incandescent lamps for automobiles he had been selling. He came up with the idea of using them inside of plastic tubes to create decorative light strings and the Tivoli tube was born. 

From that initial idea nearly 40 years ago Tivoli has evolved their products with the changing market needs.  Tivoli tubing has since been incorporated into building facades, interior detail accents, floors, aisle and steps for entertainment and architectural lighting.  As lighting technology has advanced so has Tivoli’s products.  Tivoli was the first in the market to introduce indicator type LEDs into their tubing, aisle and step lighting products. 

As LED technology has advanced so have Tivoli products. Tivoli’s new line of architectural LED based products incorporate high brightness LEDs offering illumination instead of just detail accent lighting along with the energy saving advantages of LEDs. Tivoli’s new Signage products incorporate state-of-the-art RGB technology producing virtually unlimited colors and effects. 

The Tivoli brand has often been copied and in fact, ‘Tivoli type’ lighting is often referenced.  However, there is no substitute for the original Tivoli product. Tivoli has always incorporated quality manufacturing and materials into their products.  Tivoli products are made to withstand extreme environments and are UL and CUL listed. 

The new Tivoli is a partnership between the Targetti Group and Neo-Neon Holdings.  This new partnership was formed to provide Tivoli with the manufacturing capability for our LED systems in order to enable us to focus more of our efforts on the continued development of innovative LED-based products. 

Neo-Neon is one of the largest producers of cutting edge LED-based lighting systems in the world with over 25 years experience, 28,000 employees and over 1,000 staff engineers, and full control of the manufacturing process, providing Tivoli with manufacturing support while assuring the high level of quality that is inherent in our products.  Final fixture assembly is performed in the Santa Ana, CA facility.
